Valid Zhubi, Peer Support/Self Advocates' Group Assistant, Kosovo Mental Disability Rights Initiative

Valid Zhubi is an undergraduate student of the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Philosophy; Department of Psychology. Valid enrolled into University in 2003 and is currently attending his senior semester. In addition to the University of Prishtina, Valid has completed a course on Supported Employment Web-based Certificate Series at the Virginia Commonwealth University in November 2008. Valid has attended various relevant trainings including Human Rights Advocacy (April 2007) and a training on Child and Adolescent Art Therapy and Evaluation (December 2006).

Valid’s co-operations included work with Youth Initiative for Human Rights where he worked as an Administrative and Finance Assistant and also served and a Human Rights School assistant and a coordinator for Nisma Ime – a human rights activists network.

Prior to engaging in work with the above organization, Valid worked as Peer support / self advocates’ groups Coordinator with Mental Disability Rights International (MDRI) where he supported the further development of the newly-created organizations of people with mental disabilities in Kosovo. In addition, Valid was responsible for assisting in support / coordination of peer support / self advocates groups throughout Kosovo; facilitating creation of new peer support / self advocates groups; liaison for peer support / self advocates groups to MDRI Initiative for Inclusion: Kosovo, governmental bodes and non-governmental (NGO's); assist in project proposal writing and fund raising; and reporting on the developments of the peer support / self advocates groups.
