Call for the U.S. to support the rights of people with disabilities around the world
For over two years, member nations of the U.N. have been working to draft a Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. The U.N. human rights system has traditionally not considered disability as within its scope, so this represents a turning point for people with disabilities worldwide.
The U.S. government stands apart by stating that it will not sign such a convention. This position undermines the importance of the convention and puts the U.S. in danger of losing its place as a world leader on the rights of people with disabilities.
Take Action:
Call on congressional leaders to approve legislation that will call for the U.S. to play a leading role in the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities.
